philosophical
outreach
Our foundation promotes critical thinking through philosophical inquiry,
guided by a democratic process in communities that do not have access to the university.

Who we are...
We are people passionate about philosophy, critical thinking and engaging discussion. All of our dialogue facilitators have a background or training in philosophy at the college level.

What we do...
We provide course materials and facilitate philosophical discussions using the "Plain Vanilla" technique crafted from p4c Hawaii, yet we make it entirely our own. "Plain Vanilla" is a method of discussion guided by inquiry where every participant has a right to speak, a right to be heard, a right to invite and a right to pass. Totally inclusive by design, each class engages the participants and challenges them to think independently and collectively.

Where we teach...
We teach to communities that do not or cannot have access to the university: retirement communities, homeless shelters, prisons, children's centers, elementary, and middle schools.
